Getting excited about the summer

We're getting excited about the summer holidays and there are some great things to get involved with online.

Emy and her family spend one week every Summer at a CPAS Venture having lots of fun, making new friends and learning about God. This summer the Venture is going online from Monday 3rd to Sunday 9th August . This is a fantastic opportunity to have a look at a Venture if you have never been before. You can join in from the comfort of your own home. There are fun challenges and activities planned as well as finding out more about God.

If you are interested in joining in with the Virtual Venture, email Emy at sundaychildrenandfamiliescoordinator@christchurch-clevedon.org.uk.

New Wine is breaking out too! There will be some fantastic New Wine content online to join in with from the 30th July - 3rd August. You can find out more about it on their website here.
Here's Rick to tell us more.

To help us to look forward to New Wine, we have one of the favourite New Wine songs from our house. We hope you have fun with this song for Wiggle Wednesday.

Pop back here this Sunday for a new look blog for the summer and meet our new friends, Larry and Joy.

Great Big God!

Hello! It's Wiggle Wednesday and we have one of our favourite songs from Sunday mornings at F@CT. It's been a little while since we've sung it together so I've found somebody to help us remember the actions.

I hope you have fun having a wiggle along with the actions today.

God's love is the reason

It's Wiggle Wednesday and we've got a great song to dance around to today. It's from a band called Unspoken and it's all about how when things are difficult, God's amazing love for us is the reason to keep on believing in Him.

We hope you enjoy having a dance around to this song.

The Prodigal Son

Hi everyone and welcome back to Christchurch kids. Today we are looking at a very well known parable that Jesus told called The Prodigal Son. I have heard this parable lots of times but only recently I realised I didn't know what 'Prodigal' meant. I looked it up in the dictionary and it means 'someone who spends large amounts of money, time, energy etc, particularly in a way which is not very wise.'

Let's listen to the parable and find out about the son who wasn't very wise.

There are so many parts of this story.

There is the prodigal son who thought he knew better than anyone else and made some very unwise choices with how he spent his money and his time. Eventually, he realises he needs to come home and say sorry.

There is the father, who is patiently looking out for his son and is overwhelmingly excited when his son comes home.

There is the older brother, who feels a bit grumpy that his little brother is getting lots of attention!

Parables tell us more about God and about us. What does this story tell us?

The prodigal son is someone who chooses not to follow God but then realises that they want to come to God and say sorry. What does God think about that? God is like the father in the parable. He is looking out for people to come to him. When people pray to Him and say sorry, He is so excited that he wants to throw a huge party and give them lots of presents! The big brother feels like he has been trying his best all along and is jealous that his little brother made mistakes and gets a party when he says sorry. Do you think the big brother had never made mistakes? Do you think the big brother should forgive his little brother too? Maybe we can all be like the big brother sometimes. What do you think?

The prodigal son goes on a big journey. He leaves his home and travels to another place (maybe a big city) where he spends all his money. He leaves that place and ends up working on a farm with the pigs before he realises he wants to go home. We can make a board game about going on a journey. You could base it on the parable of the Prodigal Son. You can add instructions to the squares as you go round. Find a dice (or two), write some rules and find some playing pieces. Get playing!

The father in the parable shows us God's amazing love and forgiveness. What does God's love look like? It's better than even our best tries at loving each other. The Bible describes what God's love is like in 1 Corinthians 13. It's our colouring page today and you can download it here

There's a great Chat Mat about the Prodigal Son that can be downloaded, coloured and chatted about with your family. You can download it here.

Prayer

We are going to be using some kitchen foil to help us pray today.

From Flame:creative

Take a piece of kitchen foil (not too big)

Hold your foil shiny side up and thank God for all the good things you have in your life.

Gently scrunch the foil up (not too tight as we are smoothing it out again). Think about the times when we have got things wrong and say sorry to God.

Smooth out your foil again. Thank God that he forgives us and loves us so much.

Scrunch up your foil into a shape that reminds you of someone or something to want to pray for. Maybe it could be a letter to remind you of someone's name.

Our Prayer Wall

We have a  brand new Prayer Wall at Christchurch. Have you seen it? You can find out all about it here.

Our song today reminds us that God is bigger than big! He made the sky, the oceans and the trees and His love is bigger than it all. Can you remember the actions?

Thanks for joining in today. We would love to see your board games and foil prayers. You can send us pictures using the instructions in the right hand column. We hope you have a great week and pop back for a dance on Wiggle Wednesday.

The Fruit of the Spirit

Hello! It's Wiggle Wednesday and I hope you are ready for a silly song! On Sunday, we were celebrating Pentecost when the Holy Spirit first came to the disciples. We've got a happy song today about the Fruits of the Spirit. We hope you have fun singing along.

Standing on the rock

Welcome to Wiggle Wednesday. On Sunday, we heard the parable of the Two Builders and about how as we learn more about God and spent time talking and listening to Him, it is like building a house on a rock with strong foundations.

We have a great song today to sing and dance to which is all about standing with our feet on the rock. It says that when things get stormy, we can stand firm with God.

All around the world

Hello! It's Wiggle Wednesday today and we've got two songs to listen to today. The first one is a quieter song and the second will have us dancing around the house.

Our first song has been made by children all over the world, including the UK, France, Germany, USA, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Ethiopia, Malawi, Kenya, Thailand, China, and Kuwait. We can't meet up in our church building on Sundays at the moment but the church family is still loving God and following him together online all over the world. Isn't it exciting to know that we are part of that huge family.

Isn't that an amazing song!

Are you ready for a dance now? This is a song we usually play before F@CT on a Sunday. It is so much fun.

Join us again on Sunday for more adventures with Lego.

All through History

Hello! It's Wiggle Wednesday today and we have a song about some of our favourite characters from the Bible. How many people from the Bible do you think you can recognise in the picture above?

Our song today talks about some of those amazing Bible stories and reminds us that God was faithful and helped those people and helps and loves us just the same. We hope you enjoy this song and maybe have a little dance.

Faith as tiny as a seed

Hi and welcome to Wiggle Wednesday. On Sunday, we were looking at the parable of the Sower and growing seeds. Our song today talks about seeds too. The Bible says that if our faith is as tiny as a seed, God can do amazing things.

We hope you enjoy singing along and having a dance.

We'll be back on Sunday.

Better together

Hello and welcome to Wiggle Wednesday! I hope you are ready for a dance because our song today is perfect for having a boogie around your house. As it says in the song, "What we all really need right now is an upbeat song to sing!"

At a time when we are spending more time with our families this is a song about things being better when we are together. I don't think this just means being in the same room as each other. It means being united by our love of God. We are better together not just with the people in our house but we are united with people all over the world in our love for God. When groups of people work together for God, amazing things happen.

I hope you enjoy this song. The video is great fun too.

God is with me

Hello and welcome to Wiggle Wednesday. We've got a song today that we have been listening to at the beginning of F@CT recently. You may recognise the people in the song from F@CT as we have looked at the stories of Daniel, David and Jonah.

In each of these stories, amazing things happened. David beat a giant in battle, Daniel was saved from a whole den of lions and Jonah ended up inside an enormous fish! The one thing that was true in each of these stories was that God was with them and helped them through an incredible time.

We can join in with this song and remember that God is with us and helps us too.

Come back and join us on Sunday. We have a very special guest on the blog coming up. Here's a clue to their identity...

It's great, great!

Welcome to Wiggle Wednesday. I thought we would carry on the celebrations from Easter Sunday with one of our favourite songs from church. Easter shows us that Jesus is totally amazing. Some might say he's great, great and brill, brill!

I always get the actions wrong on this one so I have found some fantastic people to help us. They don't always get the actions right either! You could try this in fancy dress too just like the people in the video.

Bigger than Big

God you made our big blue sky

We've been enjoying some blue skies recently and feeling grateful for them.

Your love for me stretches farther than far

This week is leading up to Good Friday and Easter Sunday when God showed us His amazing love and how far it stretched for us.

Join in with some actions today for Wiggle Wednesday as we sing about how big God is and how incredible His love is.

Pandas and nostrils and trees??

Hi everyone. It's Wiggle Wednesday again and today it's one of the favourite songs in our house at the moment. I hope you are ready for a bit of a dance around the house.

On Sunday, we looked at how when everything around us is different, God stays the same. We looked at how we can notice God's creation around us. Today's song is about that creation and how God is the amazing scientist who came up with it all.

This song is called "God of Science (Our Great God)" and it's by Rend Co Kids. How many different things can you hear listed in the song? What would be your list of amazing things in the world. Would it include pandas and nostrils and trees?

This song is by Rend Collective and we sing another of their songs in church - My Lighthouse. If you enjoy these songs and would like to recreate your own Wiggle Wednesdays on every day of the week, I would recommend their album "Sparkle Pop Rampage" by Rend Co Kids. It's fantastic and so much fun.

In this place, we're going to say Grace!

Hi everyone and welcome to Wiggle Wednesday. I hope you can find a good space to move around as we are going to be trying a bit of Irish dancing today.

I love the song "As for me and my house". We sing it in church and love to shout out "In this place, we're going to say Grace!", but we don't usually say Grace in church. It's a prayer for mealtimes at home. This is the perfect song to sing at home.

Why don't we all try to say Grace a bit more this week? Grace is a prayer of thankfulness, usually before we eat. Think of something you are thankful for and say "Thank You" to God - and have a wiggle to the song. There's a great bit of dancing at the end as it gets quicker and quicker. Have fun!

Welcome to Christchurch Kids

Hello and welcome to Christchurch kids. We love to meet up on Sundays to learn about God and have fun but, for the moment, we aren't able to meet together. The good news is that church isn't a building or Sunday morning, it's a group of people who love God and want to follow him. We can carry on being church anywhere, anytime.

This is going to be a fun place to learn more about God and share together. We are going to be adding animated Bible stories, craft ideas, activities to print off, prayers and more. We would love to see anything you have made so ask a grown up at home to email me any pictures at sundaychildrenandfamiliescoordinator@christchurch-clevedon.org.uk. (We won't be putting pictures of people on here - just things you have made or written).

To start things off, today is Wednesday! Every Wednesday, we will put a new song on here and we will call it "Wiggle Wednesdays". Play the song, have a dance around your kitchen, sing along and see if you can remember the actions - or make up your own.

To kick off Wiggle Wednesday, here's one of our favourite songs from Sunday mornings. It might feel a bit "stormy" outside at the moment, but Jesus is always our constant lighthouse...
